ZiSEC has been trusted with the responsibility of rolling out the Presidential Solar Scheme. The scheme kicked off with a pilot project in Glenview but will be rolled out across the whole country targeting installing 500Mw of rooftop solar – NYIKA ICHIVAKWA NEVENE VAYO!!!

The project objective is to eradicate load shedding and reduce dependence on imported electricity through the development of community based roof-top solar farms. To the extent that communities will become net contributors to the grid as opposed to being net importers from the grid, ZETDC has in principle undertaken to suspend load shedding in the communities where the project will be implemented.

The distributed nature of the ZiSEC model focuses on localising generation within current grid constraints which mitigates transmission losses associated with long-distance power delivery and enhances the grid's resilience by reducing dependency on centralized power sources.
